“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people” – Ephesians 6:18
As Christians, we are always seeing prayer as a requirement, Praying is what we do to stay connected to God. We feel like it is something we have to do and because f that we go on autopilot, sending empty prayers up to heaven that have no meaning. Instead, we should start praying intentionally and as a result, we will see our lives start to change for the better.
Don’t Go on Autopilot
When we feel it is time to pray, we go on autopilot, whether it be before a meal or before we go to bed, we send prayers thanking God for our food or for our day, but do we really mean it? Try to notice when you go on autopilot and when you notice this, switch your mindset to intentionally thank God and pray with purpose, instead of empty gestures.
“And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.” – Matthew 21:22
Believe in What You Pray for
When you ask God for help or for him to bring things into your life, believe with all your heart that he will take care of things. Cast all of your anxiety on him and he will help you through anything and everything. God has your best interest at heart, so trust that he knows what is best for your life and his plan will prevail.
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7
Be Thankful for What You Already Have
When times are tough, think about the things that you currently have that you are thankful for. It can be simple things, such as your friends and family, food on your table and a roof over your head. Think of how blessed you actually are and realize that things could actually be a lot worse. Thank God for those things. Tell him how much you appreciate what you have and ask him kindly to help you in difficult situations.
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Trust That God Will Take Care of It
Trust God no matter what. Send your prayers to heaven and mean it when you say that you trust God. Give him all of your worries and doubts and leave them with him. He will help you and take care of you, but only if you trust him.
“And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.” – Psalm 9:10
