Weekly Devotional: His Love Encompasses All

By Lily Cooper
Professional Writing Major, College of Humanities and Social Sciences

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” (Romans 3:23-26)

We live in a society that craves gossip, loves to judge and embraces the world. Every day we carry emotional and physical baggage with a history that can stretch for miles and miles. From birth, we have expectations placed on us and when those are not met it feels like the world has turned their backs on us and there is nowhere for us to turn to.

But there is.

Jesus has his arms wide open, just waiting for us to run to Him. He is always with us no matter what. It doesn’t matter what kind of past or present we have because all He wants for us is for Him to be our future. In His eyes we are pure and beautiful, worthy of every treasure in the world. He loves us unconditionally and showed us exactly how much when He was nailed to the cross for our sins.

This is why Christians celebrate Easter. Because it was the ultimate act of love that allows us to live with Christ in heaven for eternity. It’s a beautiful time for everyone and represents many things for Christians all over the world. It represents Jesus Christ’s victory over death, His resurrection proof that He is the Son of God. It represents Jesus’ love for us, that He was nailed to the cross, just for us to save our sins. It represents eternal life, that through this event we can find hope in an eternity spent with Him.

As you go on Easter egg hunts this upcoming Easter, go to service and eat delicious food, remember Jesus’ sacrifice for you. He loved you so much that he died for you.

Because He loves you.

GCU wishes you a Happy Easter! If you want to learn more about GCU’s Christian values and identity or would want to read more devotionals please visit our website and check out the GCU blog.
