Trending Faith: Are Bible Reading Plans Helpful?

Are Bible reading plans helpful, or are they too rigid?

On this week’s episode of Trending faith, Grand Canyon University Pastor and Dean of Students Tim Griffin and Dean of the College of Theology Jason Hiles, PhD, sat down to discuss this question.

Pastor Tim began the discussion by saying he feels many of the study Bibles and reading plans available today are helpful. Whether these tools guide us through Scripture chronologically or direct us to daily readings, they all help us to get into the Word of God. Life is complicated and busy, and these plans can help to remind us to pause, even if it is just for five to 10 minutes, and spend some time in God’s Word.

Doing this teaches us discipline. After all, the disciples were disciplined followers of Jesus.

While we can be undisciplined in so many areas of our lives, as Christians, it is important to be devoted to reading God’s Word. This way, we can grow in our knowledge of Him and personal relationship we have with Him.

Ultimately, Pastor Tim believes there is nothing wrong with finding a mechanism that works for you and encourages you to stay in God’s Word.
