Grand Canyon University recently released Canyon Worship 2016, featuring seven brand new songs recorded at the GCU Recording Studio. All of the songs on the album are products of students enrolled in the worship arts program at GCU, plus three songs from Canyon Worship’s EP released last year.
With all of the success the Center for Worship Arts has had since its launch, it has been decided that one full-length album will be created each year to showcase the hard work and talent of students in the program.
Not only does the album provide new music for others to enjoy, but it has also given worship arts students the opportunity to see their visions come to life. In addition, producing the album has allowed the students to grow together and share their hearts for Jesus.
Thanks to the new GCU Recording Studio that was opened in September, students have a place to come together and share their passions. The community among the students has allowed them to collaborate and create music that glorifies God.
When it comes to the album, the overall feel is focused on worship. Everyone expresses who Jesus is to them differently, and the album aims to captures this. The main goal of the album is to point to the worship arts program and students and, most of all, bring glory to Christ.
With the success of last year’s EP, there is a lot of excitement surrounding the release of this year’s album. According to John Frederick, coordinator of the Center for Worship Arts, this is only the beginning. He looks forward to what is to come in the future for the program, as each year will provide opportunities to grow the program in new ways.
