At Grand Canyon University, students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of clubs and organizations. By choosing to join a club or organization, students can build relationships with peers, network with professionals and discover exciting career opportunities.

If you are passionate about nursing, there are many ways to join the nursing community at GCU. The College of Nursing and Health Care Professions prepares the next generation of healthcare professionals by providing opportunities for students to become involved. Whether it be through joining an honor society, nursing club or association, students can make the most of their college experience and prepare for a successful future as a nurse.

Sigma Theta Tau International

GCU’s Nu Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International is one of the largest divisions of this honor society in the U.S. The mission of Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) is to support the learning, knowledge and professional development of nurses who are committed to making a difference in healthcare.

In addition, the vision of STTI is to create a global community of nurses who lead with knowledge, scholarship, service and learning in order to improve the health of others. At GCU, students can take part in this mission by becoming a member of Nu Upsilon, which supports the mission and vision of STTI.

Student Nurses Association

At GCU, students can join the Student Nurses Association (SNA), allowing them to become part of a group of students who are passionate about nursing and active members in their school and community. The SNA greatly values service and promotes professionalism and leadership through “Keys for Success,” including leadership training, participating in community events, attending guest speaker broadcasts, training, networking, mentorship, resume building and creating relationships with peers.

The SNA at GCU is connected to the National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA), whose mission is to prepare students to display professionalism through leadership and involvement in the organization. In addition, the GCU SNA is also affiliated with the Arizona State Nurses’ Association, which gives students further opportunities to volunteer at state-hosted events and community service projects.

The opportunities made available by the College of Nursing and Health Care Professions are valuable for nursing students. By joining a nursing club at GCU, students can prepare to pursue fulfilling careers in the rapidly growing field of healthcare.

Sports Medicine Club

Individuals who are passionate about sports medicine can become a part of the Sports Medicine Club at GCU. The mission of this club is to expand knowledge of future healthcare professions such as athletic training, nursing, physical therapy, pre-medicine, pharmacology, exercise science and sports management.

Students who become part of the Sports Medicine Club build a strong foundation for future networking and participate in building awareness of sports medicine professions. They are encouraged to become leaders and critical thinkers and to find their purpose as a healthcare professional. In doing so, they become prepared to reach their full potential in their career.

Grand Canyon University’s in-person and online environments advance critical thinking, professionalism, accountability and ethical decision-making while incorporating a foundation of Christian values. To learn more about GCU, visit our website.
