Finding Tatum’s Purpose: Pumpkin Patch

By Tatum Sorrelman
Business Management Major, Colangelo College of Business

When I think of fall and Halloween, I think about how much I love pumpkins and everything pumpkin spice. That’s why I love to visit pumpkin patches to get into the spirit of fall and excited for Thanksgiving.

Since we live in Phoenix, we don’t always get to experience the cooler temps and changing colors of the leaves, so visiting a pumpkin patch is a festive way to celebrate the season. You’d think there weren’t many pumpkin patches nearby because of the Phoenix heat and the fact that we live in the desert, but there are some actually very close to GCU! The one that we went to was only about 20 minutes away from campus.

Once we got to the pumpkin patch, we were in search of the most unique pumpkins that we could carve funny and interesting faces into. We took a lot of fun pictures with all the different looking pumpkins.

After we picked up our pumpkins, we investigated Fear Farm right across from the patch. Fear Farm isn’t my idea of the greatest time since I refuse to be scared. But we went during the day just to look at everything, which wasn’t as terrifying. It was really cool to see the spooky and scary things during the daytime. We had such a great time taking more pictures. Then we had dinner and hung out to cap off this fall festive excursion. It was so much fun to go out with my friends and get into the fall spirit, especially with Thanksgiving around the corner!

I’ll be sharing more of my GCU campus life with you each week on Finding Tatum’s Purpose! Follow me on social media or check back on the GCU Blogs Network and GCU YouTube channel for more!
