#ASKGCU How Difficult Is It to Change Your Major

If you are interested in changing your major at Grand Canyon University and do not know what to do or where to start, then here are some tips from the #ASKGCU team on what you need to do if you want to change your major.

Set up an Appointment With Your Advisor

In order to change your major, the first thing that you need to do is set up an advisor with your student services counselor. They are the ones that set up all of your classes and help set up your finance plans. You can email your advisor to set up an appointment, or you can go into the main student services office that is located in Cypress Hall and make an appointment in person.

Look at the Classes for Your New Major

Do some research and look at all of the majors that GCU has to offer and find the ones that interest you the most. Once you have narrowed it down, look at the classes that are offered within those majors and find the classes that seem the most interesting to you to pick your new major.

Know What You Want to Change to

Make sure that you have done your research and know what you want to change your major to. Once you know, tell your advisor when you have your appointment and they will talk to you about it and show you the classes that are required to take for that major and once you are sure you want to change it, they will do it for you.

Do Not Settle for Something That Makes You Unhappy

If you are unhappy with your major and the classes that you are currently enrolled in, then change it. Do not suffer through classes that you do not enjoy and a major that you are uninterested in. You have the ability to change your major to something that you enjoy. If you are unhappy with your major, then you will be unhappy with your future career.

Do What Makes You Happy

Make sure that your major is something that you enjoy and makes you happy. Do not worry about how much money you will make in the future. Do what makes you happy. The GCU motto is to find your purpose and you can only do that by pursuing your dreams and doing the things you love.
