Exercise Science at GCU

GCU offers several exercise science emphasis areas, including physical education, sports performance and health education. These options give students the opportunity to hone in on a specific aspect of exercise science that they have a passion for. In the health education emphasis, students are given the opportunity to learn about the following:

  • Exercise testing and prescription
  • Global health concerns
  • Health administration and management
  • Nutrition
  • Personal wellness and fitness
  • Health planning and implementation
  • Methods of teaching health and measuring in exercise science

In addition, students in this program take courses in kinesiology, physiology and cardiovascular fitness. The health education program emphasizes teaching through laboratory experiences in order to help students acquire the hands-on skills they need to succeed in an exercise science career.
