Chelsea Evans

Marketing Major, Honors College

Chelsea Evans HeadshotChelsea Evans is a junior in the Honors College at Grand Canyon University. She is a marketing major with a minor in entrepreneurial studies from Spokane, WA. Throughout her entire life, business and anything related to art have been her two reoccurring passions. During her junior year of high school, she found a way to weave the two together. Chelsea spent the next two years of her life creating paintings and selling them online and in art shows; however, coming to college, she did not have time (or the space) to paint as much as she would like. That is when she truly found her love for marketing. It was a different way to intertwine her love for business with her love for creativity. Chelsea now does marketing and PR for the Honors College and also takes part in the IDEA Club, specifically through Due Diligence, where she gets to have real-world experience in marketing.

Spotlight Questions:

Who am I and how did I get to GCU?

When I visited GCU on a Discover trip, I immediately fell in love with the school. I loved the atmosphere and the community that I saw all around me. Once I returned back to Washington, I was telling my mom about GCU and accidentally kept calling it “home.” Every time I accidentally said it, I smiled because I knew that was where I wanted to spend the next four years of my life. GCU was actually the only college I applied to because I was so confident that this is where I wanted to be. Plus, living in summer weather the whole year round while Washington is covered in a blanket of snow was enough of a reason for me.

What do I enjoy most in the Honors College?

I love the community feel of the Honors College. The honors faculty and students provide so much support to each other. It is nice to be constantly surrounded by a group of like-minded individuals. I feel as if we all have the same long-term goals and motivation towards our futures, which allows us to better support each other to help us reach our goals.

What advice do I have for students interested in joining the Honors College?

I would say to just go for it! You are only going to be in college for four years of your life. You might as well take advantage of every opportunity possible and make the most out of your time at GCU! I have never had a single regret about joining the Honors College. Not only does it set me apart when I begin to apply for jobs after college, but it also helps me grow on a more personal level.

The courses I have taken with an honors emphasis have really helped to shape my world views, challenge my thinking and feel more connected to the university as a whole. I have also been able to make a lot of friends that I would have never met if it had not been for the Honors College.
